Funeral Options

Burial or cremation?

The choice between burial or cremation impacts the type of funeral
When considering arrangements for yourself or a loved one, the choice between burial or cremation is often one of the first decisions you’ll need to make. This decision often influences other important aspects of the funeral and John Grant funeral consultants can help respectfully guide you through this decision.

Some things to consider for a burial
Burial is often chosen for cultural or religious reasons and requires you to select a burial plot for yourself or your loved one. As a burial plot is a perpetual investment, it is advised that you make an appointment and visit the cemetery so that you can be shown all available memorial options before making a decision. Please ask us for more information about burial plots and availability at cemeteries as in some areas burial space may be limited.

Some things to consider for a cremation
While burial is a more traditional option and generally allows for a service at a chapel or church followed by a graveside service (dual service), cremation is usually done privately, whereby there is no attendance from mourners at the crematorium. This means that the funeral is usually all completed in the one location. Cremation allows you many more memorialisation options in comparisonwith burial. Our caring and professional staff team will gladly work with youto plan for a burial or cremation as part of a funeral for yourself or youloved one.

Service booklets

Traditionally used to outline the program sequence of a service for attendees to follow along, the use of service booklets (or order of service booklets) are commonly used to serve dual purpose, as a memorial keepsake in addition to their traditional function. We will work with you and your celebrant to design a service booklet that will provide family and friends with a beautiful and lasting memento that can include readings, quotes, sayings, verses, poems, personal messages and a selection of meaningful photos

Keepsake options

Bookmarks and Memorial Cards are additional keepsakes that can be used as a stand-alone memento or serve as a compliment to the service booklets. We can also produce Thank-You Cards for you to send out after the funeral to acknowledge your family and friends for their support.

Visual tribute options

Sometimes words alone cannot convey the memories of a life, which is why photos are an essential and meaningful way of remembering and paying tribute. Accompanied by your choice of music, we can help you compose a visual journey of your loved one in a memorable and nostalgic manner that will help everyone remember and reflect on the life of your loved one.

Hearse Options

We have several hearses that you may choose from for your loved one, such as:

Modern hearse
We have a fleet of modern black and silver hearses including a BINZ Mercedes hearse which is arriving in our fleet shortly.

• A Large Statesman or Chrysler sedan;
• Stretched Chrysler limousine; and

Personalised and unconventional options

Some people opt for unconventional options and personalise elements of the service.
